School Pays Gratitude to Mrs. Wager: 23rd September '09

A small function was held to welcome the new President of the German Aid to Tibet, Mrs Maeyer who now took the incharge after Mrs Wager. President during the function were honourable Rinku Tulku, Mrs. Catherine, the school Director Mr. Ngodup Wangdue la and the Principal Mr. Sonam Sichoe la. The school Director talked about the important role GIT ( German Aid to Tibet ) has been taking in the Tibetan society for the past 40 years.The German AId to Tibet covers different sections of Tibetan society like Settlements, monasteries, schools especially children's scholarship etc.Speaking on the ocassion, the School Director on behalf of all the Tibetans extended his heartfelt gratitude to the German Aid led by Mrs. Wager, who could not make her presence on the day. The school principal presented the Letter of Gratitude to Mrs. Wager who now has turned 90, through the hand of Mrs. Maeyer. Along with this, the the school Principal presented a small token of our love and gratitude to Mrs. Wager, Mrs. Maeyer and Mrs. Catherine.Before the function came to an end, Mrs. Maeyer spoke to the gathering espressing her appreciation for the welcome and congratulation from our school. She promised to visit the Tibetan community and see how they can help.Later after the function, they were shown the school campus and dinally headed to Chauntra school.

2nd September '09 : "Mangtso Duetchen" Celebrated:

"Mangtso Duetchen" was celebrated in pure traditional way with the usual singing of Mangtso Shershay "Nam Ngonpo" and the reading of the speeches from the Central Tibetan Cabinet. The function began with the arrival of the chief guest, the President of the TCHRD, Dharamsala, Mr. Ugyen Tenzin la, the right person on this Tibetan Democracy Day. The day was also simultaneously used by the school to honour the students, who have excelled in the recent TCV Class V and VIII common exam. The headmaster read out the names of the students one by one and the chief guest gave away the prizes. Along with the students, the school presented scarves to the present teachers of class V and VIII, for their contribution in bringing out a colorful school results. Like the previous year, the school had produced a good result in both class V and VIII common exam. The school extended its congratulations to both the teachers and students for their timely effort. The chief guest gave a very valuable talk to the people gathered there beginning from why we celebrate 2nd September as Democracy Day. Speaking on the occasion, he reminded the students about the importance of preserving the rich Tibetan Culture and tradition, which alone makes unique from other people who also share our same physical look. The whole function lasted for little more than an hour after which the whole staff members were ushered to the staff mess where there was small refreshment.

5th September '09 :Staff Day Observed :

The First president of India, Dr. Radhakrishna's birthday, which is observed as Teacher's Day in rest of the Indian schools, is celebrated as Staff Day in all the TCV Schools. Here in school, the day is normally looked into with great interest. With the passage of time, a lot of restriction has been posed to the scale in which the day is celebrated. There was time in the history when the students used to arrange even breakfast. Students irrespective of the classes flock towards the staff quarters with a handful of cards to wish their teachers Happy Staff Day a day in advance. This year, the day was celebrated with the usual fanfare. It began with the usual function on which the school captain gave introductory speech on the history of this day for the sake of the new students. After that, unlike the previous years, they honored the staff members who had given the maximum number of service in this particular school. This was followed by the usual entertainment show comprising of songs, drama, dance etc. The morning program last for a little over an hour. The staff members were ushered to the school hall, whose decoration was if not better, not weaker than any five star hotel. The hall was partitioned into four different seasons. On the stage was arranged a long line of cuisine, whose mere look made everybody's mouth water. There were different activities and games arranged by the students to make the day a memorable for everybody both the students and the staff members. In the evening, another entertainment show, far better than the morning was arranged by the school monitors. The evening program lasted for more than 2 hours. Like what they had already hoped to achieve, the students headed by the school monitors had been successful in making all the staff members had a wonderful day. At the end, the school Principal extended his heartfelt thanks to all the students on behalf of all the staff members. Thus the most important day came to an end with everybody retiring to bed fully satisfied.
