First Tibetan Quiz - 27th March '09:

The first senior Tibetan Quiz was arranged in Phuntsok Deshi Hall by the Tibetan Department, with the hall appealing decorated with the dedication given to the 50 years in exile. The main host of the quiz was Mr. Tseten Tashi along with five tibetan quiz masters. The participants for this quiz were students from class O/C to X. There were five rounds as usual ranging from Tibetan history to current affairs.All the rounds were very interesting and everybody presented there really had an enjoyable as well as productive time. In between the rounds, the host shared some eternal quotations from various sacred manuscripts. Finally after almost one and half hour, the quiz came to an end with each class scoring massively specially in the last speed round.The school headmaster gave away the prizes for the winning classes and consolation prizes for the rest of the classes. Class VI Eng. Elocution 3rd April '09: The first senior English Elocution was held in Phuntsok Deshi hall at 7 p.m. This elocution was among the different class six. As usual there were three parts namely Poem, Speech and Dramatic extract round.The chair person, miss. Tsering Yangzom la opened the stage with a very long dedication for the 50 years in exile celebration and a minute mourn for the Tibetan martyrs, with a logo of 50 years in exile in the center and two majestic Tibetan National Flags on the sides.Welcoming everyone for the show, she called upon the poetry section, which recited a compulaory poem by the lone Tibetan activist Tenzin Tsundue la.The most entertaining part as usual was the dramatic extract round.There were equal number of participants from both the boys and girls. Finally, the curtain was finally drawn with the distribution of the prizes for the winners by the school Headmaster, Mr. Lhundup Namgyal la. Tibetan Drama by junior School 4th April,'09: An hour long Tibetan drama based on the life of Thumi Sambhota, who first brought Tibetan Writing in Tibet, was presented in the Junior school hall at 7 p.m.The drama was arranged by the Tibetan Department of Junior school, particularly by Rev. Thupten Jamyang la and Mr. Pema Tseten la.This drama tells us how he, Thumi Sambhota and his six companions went to India caring nothing about the strain of the long journey in order to study.In due course of their journey and unavoidable circumstances, everyone except he was sucessful in bringing the rich literature that we now have. In our history, he is one such great person to whom we are fully indebted to.Through the drama, both the students as well as the students were able to see with their own eyes, how much struggle they had undergone to let us enjoy what we now have.Infact, there were so many things to learn from this drama, from the beginning to its end. Because of the subject matter of this drama, it was also shown to the senior students,especially those who have this in their lesson.Every one highly praised when one part of our lesson was presented in the drama form. World Health Day Talk 7th April '09 : On the ocassion of world Health Day, the day when the whole world pay special attention on the health, TCV School Suja observed this great day by arranging a health Talk. And the doctor the school had requested was none other than Dr.Pema Dorjee la, a renowned doctor in Tibetan Traditional Medicine from TMAI, Dharamsala. Dr. Pema Dorjee la is presently in the main TMAI, Dharamsala. He has been giving health talk here and there and has a very good know how on both the traditional as well as the Allopathic system. His talk was arranged in three sessions. First for the class from VIII to X and class IV to VI, second the remaining classes and afternoon for the girls exclusively.His first session began at 9 am sharp in Phuntsok Deshi Hall in presence of the teachers of the respective classes.Present there were the school Director Mr. Ngodup Wangdue la and Principal Mr. Sonam Sichoe la, who gave the introductory and concluding speeches respectively. Speaking on the ocassion, Dr. Pema Dorjee la started his talk with the definition of the two words "krtod bten"(Health). He said that Health is nothing but taking care of what to avoid and what to acquire.Taking excerpts from the rich Tibetan Medical Manuscripts, he said," There are two things we have to take care ofand they are our eating habit and our discipline.Diseases are caused because of these two things along with the five natural elements and superstition". As he proceeded, he touched the most talked about disease called AIDS.Through out his talk, he used his knowledge of both the contempory as well as the traditional knowledge.He was also very adept in keeping the whole audience glued by making them involve with him by letting them repeat some lines in chorus. His talk lasted for most an hour and everybody looked so fresh.There was a moment when he also shared some thought provoking personal poems, all related to health.His talk came as a great help for everybody present there. The same talk was repeated for the next class. Finally in the afternoon session, Dr. very kindly gave talk exclusively for the girls, which was specially needed everywhere in the Tibetan community.Thus the whole TCV Suja was reveberating with health talk from the morning till afternoon. The school extends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Pema Dorjee la for having consented for the talk and for having spent almost whole day educating everyone here for a better health this year.GOOD HEALTH FOR EVERYONE. Worshop on Global Earth Quake Safety - 31st March '09 :

A worshop on the Earthquake disaster Management was given by Mr.Tsering Dhoundup la, a community officer of the Library of Tibetan works and Archives . Prior to his timely visit here, he had visited most of the Tibetan schools in the Himachal pradesh such as CST Manali, CST chauntra, Bhuntar School, TCV Gopulpur, TCV Chauntra etc. In TCV School, he had a total of three session divided among the three different sections. Each session lasted for a little more than an hour. In all these sessions, both the students as well as the teachers listened to his talk very passionately as he presented his talk with the help of the power point.The resource person said that most of the Tibetan schools in himachal pradesh comes under the number 5 earth quake belt.Speaking during the workshop, Mr.Tsering Dhoundup said, " We have to keep in mind what His Holiness as always said i.e. expect for the best but prepare for the worst". This quotation of His Holiness is very relevant on this present contest.He also said, " Nobody can prevent earth quake but we can atleast reduce the damage caused by this natural disaster".The worshop came as a great benefit for all the inmates of Suja school.The students were reminded about the one of the best method namely DROP, COVER and HOLD. And also the students were educated about the things they can do BEFORE, DURING and AFTER the earth quake. Right after the three session, the school had a mock drill on the earth quake disaster management. Apart from this, there will be a mass mock drill all over Tibetan schools across Himachal Pradesh on 4th April at 10. a.m.

School Founding Anniversary: 25th March '09 :

The School Founding anniversary function, which was to be held on the basket ground before, was held in the Phuntsok Deshi hall due to the untimely downpour. The function was attended by the chief guest Mr. Tsewang Yeshi la, the President of TCV Schools, Monique and her team, an ardent Tibet Supporter and a sponsor from Luxembourg, Mrs Tsering Lhamo la, the Representative BTS, honorary guests from Bir Tibetan colony and the principals and Directors from nearby sister schools.The function began with the singing of the national anthem, which was followed by the village Director, Mr. Ngodup wangdue la's welcome speech. Speaking on the ocassion, he narrated a brief history of Suja and where it stands today."TCV Suja celebrates its 23rd birthday and now stands with a total number of 1821 students and 167 staff members", he said.He spoke for nearly fifteen minutes presenting the annual report of the school.

Right after his speech, scarves and tokens were given to four of our staff members, who are retiring from their service by the honorable chief guest.Everyone welcomed them all for their long service for this school by giving them a big round of applause. This was followed by the speech by Monique, who was fully in a traditional Tibetan dress.She spoke highly of the Tibetans in general and Suja in particular. She also narrated how she and her team, who now have formed one NGO,Friends of Tibet had come in contact with the Tibetans.She also congratulated the President as well as the school Director for all the good work. Her speech was followed by the presentation of some cultural programmes which include four dances, one duet and a group song. The chief guest, Mr. Tsewang Yeshi la's speech came right after the cultural items by the students of Suja.Speaking on the ocassion, the president praise the school for having produced so many children who are now working in various institutions.He also congratulated all the staff and students of this school for the synergy they both have produced in taking this school to the height where it is standing now.He said, " We are all familiar with the speech of His Holiness last year during the TCV Dharamsala founding anniversary. So, we should not just lament on his speech but we have to work on it and produce some resluts. For that both the teachers as well as the students have to put more effort right from the school stage.There should be full dedication given without wasting this precious time." He also requested the students to have proper aim right from the school.He also said, " We all have the same responsibility until Tibet is cause is resolved". Finally, he thanked the school sponsor Monique and her team for the ever willing support and he also thanked the village Director and the principal for the great achievement brought forward.After that, the school Principal, Mr. Sonam Sichoe la gave a vote of thanks.

Taking this opportunity, he reminded every there about the President's speech.Finally, the function came to an end with the singing of the school song, "Khenpae Yeshi" in unison.

School Opens for a New academic year 2009

9th March 2009: The opening ceremony of TCV School was held on 9th march this year, reminding everyone there about the beginning of yet another new academic session. The ceremony was held on the basket ball, attended by a total number of nearly few hundred people comprsising of both the staff and students. The ceremony began with the arrival of the chief guest, the abbot of Sherab ling monastery at 9 a.m. and the singing of the national anthem in unison. This was followed by the presentation of two patriotic songs by a group of students. Both these songs were chosen the best group song in the Talent Nite Day a couple of months back. Both the staff as well as the students looked very fresh and energised after nearly two months winter holiday, as the comfortable sun warms their faces. There were chirping of birds around, perhaps welcoming every one for a fresh year.The speeches were poured like the usual with the welcome speech. After that, the distribution of the prizes for those who have performed well in the last year exam was held by the chief guest. Along with the prize distribution, the school honoured the staff members with extra responsibility like house incharge, welfare committee, students’ advisory committee etc by offering them scarves. After that, the chief guest addressed the gathering by saying that we all have to perform our respective duties sincerely. Speaking on the ocassion, he said, “ The students have to study hard every dayand should listen to what the teachers are saying. The staff members also have to work for the students with full dedication keeping in the mind what kind of trouble the students faced while coming here for a good modern education”. Whatever he said strongly gave good effect upon the audience as every body was listening very attentively to him. Finally, he was given a big round of applause. The function came to an end with the vote of thanks by the school principal and the singing of the national song, “ Khenpae Yeshi”. Right after the function, the students as well as the teachers went in their respective new classrooms. The distribution of the textbooks and notebooks was held there after from the senior most class. And every body welcomed this new academic year.
