The first tibetan debate was held in Phuntsok Deshi hall at 7 p.m. with the chairperson, Mr. Tenzin dorjee la. There were twelve speakers from class IX and X. There were three speakers from each group, who spoke one after another in a very eloquent manner. The topic they were debating was " If Tibetans need Freedom, the Chinese should become democratic". One group comprising of members of the two classes spoke for the motion and the other same spoke against the motion. All the speakers presented very well.Present for the debate as an audience included the senior classes and the staff members. This first debate was well attended and listened to as the topic was very suitable for all of us. On top of this, each speaker was better than the other. the three judges who were called really had a tough time judging the best speaker. But eventually,one team came out as a winner.Even the members on the floor made the best use of the calculating time.
The first senior English Elocution was held in Phuntsok Deshi hall at 7 p.m. This elocution was among the different class six. As usual there were three parts namely Poem, Speech and Dramatic extract round.The chair person, miss. Tsering Yangzom la opened the stage with a very long dedication for the 50 years in exile celebration and a minute mourn for the Tibetan martyrs, with a logo of 50 years in exile in the center and two majestic Tibetan National Flags on the sides.Welcoming everyone for the show, she called upon the poetry section, which recited a compulaory poem by the lone Tibetan activist Tenzin Tsundue la.The most entertaining part as usual was the dramatic extract round.There were equal number of participants from both the boys and girls. Finally, the curtain was finally drawn with the distribution of the prizes for the winners by the school Headmaster, Mr. Lhundup Namgyal la.
On the ocassion of world Health Day, the day when the whole world pay special attention on the health, TCV School Suja observed this great day by arranging a health Talk. And the doctor the school had requested was none other than Dr.Pema Dorjee la, a renowned doctor in Tibetan Traditional Medicine from TMAI, Dharamsala. Dr. Pema Dorjee la is presently in the main TMAI, Dharamsala. He has been giving health talk here and there and has a very good know how on both the traditional as well as the Allopathic system. His talk was arranged in three sessions. First for the class from VIII to X and class IV to VI, second the remaining classes and afternoon for the girls exclusively.His first session began at 9 am sharp in Phuntsok Deshi Hall in presence of the teachers of the respective classes.Present there were the school Director Mr. Ngodup Wangdue la and Principal Mr. Sonam Sichoe la, who gave the introductory and concluding speeches respectively.
Speaking on the ocassion, Dr. Pema Dorjee la started his talk with the definition of the two words "krtod bten"(Health). He said that Health is nothing but taking care of what to avoid and what to acquire.Taking excerpts from the rich Tibetan Medical Manuscripts, he said," There are two things we have to take care ofand they are our eating habit and our discipline.Diseases are caused because of these two things along with the five natural elements and superstition". As he proceeded, he touched the most talked about disease called AIDS.Through out his talk, he used his knowledge of both the contempory as well as the traditional knowledge.He was also very adept in keeping the whole audience glued by making them involve with him by letting them repeat some lines in chorus. His talk lasted for most an hour and everybody looked so fresh.There was a moment when he also shared some thought provoking personal poems, all related to health.His talk came as a great help for everybody present there.
The same talk was repeated for the next class. Finally in the afternoon session, Dr. very kindly gave talk exclusively for the girls, which was specially needed everywhere in the Tibetan community.Thus the whole TCV Suja was reveberating with health talk from the morning till afternoon. The school extends its heartfelt thanks to Dr. Pema Dorjee la for having consented for the talk and for having spent almost whole day educating everyone here for a better health this year.GOOD HEALTH FOR EVERYONE.
